An Open Letter to Maureen Rupe

Dear Maureen Rupe,

First, I want you to know that GOD loves you and that He wants you to know that. I realize that you may not believe in Him, but He does exist. Otherwise, you would not.

The second reaason I write is to let you know why I do what I do: keep an eye on you and correct the things you write and tell the people the truth. You see, the truth matters. The truth is what made America great. The Founding Fathers believed in the truth and told it. Lying was anathema to them in their idea of leadership. When you write a lie in your article the American tradition and the good people of PSJ and the surrounding areas, deserve to know the truth and have it voiced in opposition to your lie.

You see, Maureen, one of the "biggies" of GOD's rules is "Thou shalt not lie". It mattered so much to Him that we tell the truth that He chose to make it #9 of the Top Ten List. He wrote the original list Himself -- in stone. That's how much it mattered to Him. Can you imagine how sore His finger must have been afterward? Yeah. It was that important.

Jesus also believed in telling the truth. In fact, he said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. [my bolding]" So, you see that Christ (the Son of GOD) thought and taught that the truth was in him. The truth matters to GOD.

Maureen, GOD's love includes rules to keep us safe. The rules started way back in the beginning, even before He created the heavens and the earth. Those rules include things like the rules of gravity, thermodynamics and motion. When we try to test or break one of those rules we pay a price. Jump out the top window of a twenty story building and gravity makes you pay a price. GOD put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and gave Adam and Eve two rules: 1) Don't eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; and 2) Don't eat of the Tree of Life. Two simple rules in a whole world of love and at a time when Adam and Eve walked with and talked with GOD on a daily basis. Even back then He made rules to protect us. Breaking those rules had consequences. Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. Eve had to bear more children and she now bore them in pain. Adam had to work the soil and the soil wouldn't always work with him. The serpent even paid a price for being a liar. He had to crawl on his belly and be the enemy of mankind forever.

That's how much GOD loves you, Maureen. He loves you enough to put a Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Port St. John with you. When you tell a lie, GOD has put me here to correct that lie. I am your price to pay, I suppose you could say. Why? The truth matters and there are consequences for doing the wrong thing and for telling a lie. That consequence, in case you haven't yet realized it, is to deal with me telling the truth about your falsehood; righting the wrong; shining the light into the darkness. GOD doesn't want you to be able to lie to the good people of Port St. John, or He wouldn't have put me here.

You see, Maureen, when you love someone, you put boundaries on them. You love your cutie-pie grandson, Tor, so you don't let him play in the traffic, or with poison, or take a plugged in computer into the bathtub with him. That's called placing boundaries upon him. You do that because you love him. You don't do it to be mean, but because you're trying to keep him safe and well. Just as GOD did in the Garden of Eden with the rule about not eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, you are putting boundaries around Tor to protect him because you love him. Think of me as the same thing: the boundary of not letting you get away with a lie is GOD's way of telling you how much He LOVES YOU. He didn't let Adam and Eve get away with eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He told them not to do so, and had to punish them when they decided to disobey. Otherwise, they would not have believed GOD would punish them for future sins, nor His word on other things He said to them later.

So, you see, I am GOD's provision for you. I am His reminder that you need to tell the truth and do so consistantly. You need to deal honestly with the people of Port St. John. Because if you're not, GOD has put me here to fix that problem. So if you look at it in that light, I am a blessing in your life, a reminder that GOD doesn't want you to tell lies.

That also says that I am GOD's provision for the people of Port St. John and the surrounding areas, as well. I prevent them from being led astray by you. I prevent the lie from being the only available information out there. I allow them to find the truth quickly and easily. I prevent the misleading from going too far. I act as a balance and a stop gap for your statements. That's the way GOD works. If He sees one group, person, entity going too far wrong, He will act to counter it.

So, Maureen, don't hate me for being the counterbalance to you; being the white to your black; the yin to your yang. That's the way GOD does things. When He sees a place that needs balanced with truth and light, He puts someone there who is willing to obey and willing to take the heat for doing His will. If that doesn't prove GOD's existance then what does?

That's all I have to say, Maureen. GOD loves you. He proves it daily by trying to make you tell the truth, or at the very least, by providing me to do so for you. It would behoove you, Maureen, to tell the truth from now on. It's not as if you have any chance of getting away with the lies so you may as well give them up. Make your life easier. Do it for your health. Do it for your conscience. Do it because you'd be setting a good example for your Grandkids. Do it because it's the right thing to do. Do it because GOD loves you and has commanded you, "Thou shalt not lie."

Have a good day, Maureen. Remember: GOD LOVES YOU and that's why He provided me! Oh, and if I didn't love you, too, I wouldn't care enough to write this letter.

Sincerely, and In His Love,

Linda McKinney
